UPDATE: Snowfall To Make Roads Slick This Evening

Champlain Valley Weather Discussion:
Currently across the Champlain Valley snow is mixing with, and in some cases changing over to rain. Currently in Plattsburgh, some sleet is mixing in, while a snow/ rain mix falls in Swanton Village, with Rain in Burlington. Across the Western slopes of the Green mountains and east, it is a different story, snow moderate to occasionally heavy at times continues.

Reports from a spotter in Richford indicated snow was falling heavily with 3 inches of snow on the ground, with up to 5 inches on Jay Mountain (Not Jay Peak). Another spotter in Fairfax Vermont reported 2 inches of snow, with snow lightening up. This indicates that the heaviest accumulations will be across the Western slopes of the green mountains, and areas to the east.

The Champlain Valley will see a snow total of a Trace to 1 inch in the immediate valley with up to 1-3 inches further away from the lake. Across the Western Slopes of the Green mountains, snow totals will range from 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts near Jay Mountain, and Jay Peak. Some sleet, and freezing rain could mix in toward the end of the system over the next couple hours. I have thus issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Western slopes of the Green mountains and points east. The National Weather service has an advisory in effect for 1-4 inches of snow for the same areas, with a mix of sleet, and freezing rain.

Travel conditions will remain poor across much of the region, if your out traveling, use extreme caution.
