UPDATE: High Wind Warning In Effect
Alert Details:
Champlain Valley Weather has issued a High Wind Warning for all of Vermont, which is in effect now, through 6AM Friday Morning. The High Wind Warning is in effect for the potential of wind gusts 55-60MPH, with locally higher gusts, especially across elevations above 1500 feet, and across Southern Vermont.
Champlain Valley Weather Discussion:
A warm front has rapidly lifted north, almost across the entire state of Vermont, with temperatures rapidly rising into the 70's. This combined with an approaching cold front has resulted in a squall line, which is bringing strong winds down to the surface. Also ahead of this squall line in the warm sector strong south winds are occurring. Wind gusts to 40MPH are already occurring primarily to the east of the Champlain Valley. Strong wind gusts of 55-60MPH will likely occur across Vermont. As the squall line moves through locally higher gusts could occur, especially across Southern Vermont. Stay tuned for further updates.
