CHAMPLAIN VALLEY WEATHER DISCUSSION:
Looks like things are going to be warm today, followed by the chance of some thunderstorms tomorrow (Tuesday). Currently temps across the region are all over. With northern New York in the low to mid 80's with isolated upper 80 readings. Temperatures across the Champlain Valley are ranging from the mid 70's to low 80's with some isolated mid 80 degree readings. The Western slopes of the Green mountains are generally in the upper 70's to low 80's, and with cloud cover still persisted over Northeastern Vermont, the Northeast Kingdom is ranging from the upper 60's to low 70's.

Overall temperatures should continue to rise and peak out in the low to mid 80's everywhere. Some isolated 90 degree readings may be possible, especially in Northern New York, and the Champlain Valley, away from the lake shore. It is interesting to note though, there is a slug of temperatures in the 87-90 degree range across Western, and Central New York. Starting to sneak into the Northern Adirondack mountains, St. Lawrence Valley, and Southwestern Vermont. It will be interesting to see if some of these 90 degree reading will push into our area. With a strong south to southwesterly wind I don't see why this wouldn't occur. Also I feel there may be some downsloping resulting in such radical temperature ranges in small areas such as 88 degrees in Potsdam, NY but only 83 degrees in Massena, NY which is about 20 minutes North of Potsdam. Then you have Plattsburgh at 73 degrees, while Burlington, is reporting 83, and Swanton Village is reporting 84 degrees. It will be interesting to see if we make it to 90 or not.

With all that said, we will move on tomorrow, and the chances for thunderstorms. Temperatures tomorrow should range from 75 to near 80 degrees. A cold front approaching from the west may trigger some thunderstorms. At this time, it appears they will remain non-severe, due to a weaken jet, and not all that impressive dewpoints, and instability. There is still an outside chance though that a couple of the storms could produce severe wind gusts. At this time though, it is not likely enough to put the T-storms into the likely category on the 7 day forecast grids. Eitherway stay tuned for further updates!!
